Ride Blog - 2/22/2026 Cherry Creek Trail - NNW of Roosevelt Lake AZ
Sunday 2/22/26 I went up with a small group to an area NNW of Theodore Roosevelt lake to ride the "Cherry Creek Trail". It was an 85 mile ride roundtrip and the elevation on the ride topped out around 6400ft. There was a decent amount of snow on some of the north facing and shaded areas. We had a fun day but eventually got onto a less traveled trail, on the way back, where there were a lot of trees down. A guy in our group had a "Pocket chain saw" tool that was surprisingly efficient at cutting through some pretty large logs. We cut through three downed trees and cleared the trail but ran into a much larger tree down the trail that encouraged us to turn around. It was starting to get later in the afternoon and we were only half way through this trail. I was so impressed with the saw tool that I had to order one for my kit.
